Yesterday we had an all-hands meeting, and one of my co-workers was admiring the So-Called Scarf. “Maybe,” she said, “I could give you $20 and you could knit me something like this?”
“Uhhhhh,” I answered as nicely as I could, “I could teach you to knit…”
She laughed and said, “Oh come on, you’re just trying to empower me now!”
Yes, yes I am.

Besides which the yarn alone probably cost $20 and that’s not even counting your time in knitting it. I knit and give things away, but never for pay. That way I can do it on my timeline as well.

I think most people just have no idea of the time involved with knitting- especially when they see you whipping through rows on an easy pattern.
Some folks for instance, might think that you could knit an Irish sweater in just a few weeks…
