In Which the Pirate Makes Water Rings.

The Water Rings shawl, alternating stripes of white and a multicolour yarn in teals, greens, and pops of pink.

When I saw the pattern for the Water Rings shawl I just knew I had to knit it – and I already had the perfect yarn for it, a single Zauberball that was a gift from friend Monica. I started knitting the shawl back in August, when Michael and I took a road trip to Connecticut for his birthday. It was an easy pattern, so it was perfect car knitting!

(At least, the first half of it was perfect car knitting. The second half has lots of stitch markers and short rows, but it was the end of October before I got to that halfway point.)

A closeup of the halfway point of the shawl, where the stripes change from the white yarn as the main colour to the white as the contrast colour. Instead of stripes of white with blips of colour, it's stripes of colour with blips of white.

Now that it’s finished, I just have to figure out how the heck people wear shawls… maybe while I’m at it, I can learn how to take good selfies?
