About the Pirate

Raveler #1310

The Knitting Pirate has been obsessed with yarn and string for approximately forever, beginning with knotting embroidery floss into friendship bracelets and weaving scarves on a plastic loom (hey, it was the 80s). Pirate learned to knit at eight, but didn’t really pick it up as a hobby until twenty years later. Other string- and fabric-related hobbies include inkle and card weaving, embroidery, sewing, quilting and, yes, the occasional friendship bracelet. A spinning wheel was the perfect birthday present one year, and a drum carder soon followed, and then another wheel, and then a knitting machine or two…

Pirate used to live in a log house on top of a mountain and has moved back to civilization: a townhouse in the suburbs, where there’s much more free time to do things like knit and make other art.
