About the Pirate

The Knitting Pirate has been obsessed with yarn and string for as long as she can remember, beginning with knotting embroidery floss into friendship bracelets and weaving scarves on a plastic loom. She learned to knit at eight, but didn’t really pick it up as a hobby until twenty years afterwards. Other string- and fabric-related hobbies include inkle and card weaving, embroidery, sewing, quilting and, yes, Pirate still makes the the occasional friendship bracelet. She got a spinning wheel for her 30th birthday, and a drum carder soon followed, and then another wheel, and then a knitting machine...

Pirate used to live in a log house on top of a mountain and has moved back to civilization: a townhouse in the suburbs, where she has much more free time to do things like knit and make other art.
